Rava/Suji Upma (Uppuma)
- 2 2 Cups Suji/ Rava
- 2 Onion (Cut Fine)
- 1/4 1/4 Teaspoon Mustard Seeds
- 1/2 1/2 Teaspoon Urad Dal
- 8 Cashew Nuts
- 1/2 1/2 Teaspoon Lemon Juice (Optional)
- 3 Green Chilli (Cut into small pieces)
- 1 1 Piece Ginger (1/2 Inch size)
- 3 3 Tablespoons Ghee
- 1 Sprig Curry leaves
- Salt to taste
- 4 4 Cups Boiled water
- 1/4 1/4 Cup Grated Coconut
Fry Rava/ Sooji in a dry pan and keep it aside. Crush ginger and green chilli together. Heat oil/ghee in a pan. Add mustard seeds. After it splutters add urad dal and curry leaves. Stir for 30 seconds. Add Cashew nuts and mix well.
Now, add onion, ginger- green chilly mix, and saute for 2 mintues. Add grated carrot (you may vegetables of your choice like green peas, beans and tomatoes). Mix well and cook for 2 minutes.
Add boiled water. Cook for another one minute. Now add the fried Rava/Suji to it little by little while continuously stiring it. Mix well for another one minute.
Lower the heat and cover the vessel with a lid allowing it to get cooked. Remove from stove. Add lime juice and grated coconut. Serve hot with Banana/Sambar/Chutney.
